We strive to make our service as flexible as possible, but we do use fees to try to encourage good car-sharing etiquette. Below is a list of the most commonly encountered credits and fees when using CarShare Vermont. For more information, please see our Member Handbook.

Fees
Late Fees
Our late fees are hefty to encourage folks to be on time and avoid inconveniencing other members. The fee is $40 for each 1⁄2 hour you're late. Please remember you can always try to extend your reservation by using our web or phone reservation systems to avoid being late. If you cannot extend your reservation because someone else has reserved the car after you, please call BEFORE your reservation ends and we’ll cut the late fee in half!
Reservation Extension
There is no charge to extend your reservation, except for the additional time you reserve the car.
Shortening or Canceling
There is no fee for canceling or shortening a reservation, but you may still be responsible for paying for a portion of the time you reserved. If you cancel or shorten a reservation with less than 12 hours notice, you may be responsible for paying for up to half the time you had reserved, less any time that gets re-reserved by another member. Similarly, if it's less than four hours notice, you may be responsible for paying for all of the reserved hours (less any time that gets re-reserved by other members). This is to encourage everyone to only make reservations they will actually use so the cars will be available as much as possible. If you bring the car back early, it may or may not make financial sense to shorten your reservation–just do a little math to figure it out.
No-Show Fee
If you don't show up for your reservation, you'll be charged for the time you reserved the car, PLUS a $10 No-Show Fee.
Less-Than-Half-Tank Fee
Please make sure there’s at least a half a tank of gas in the car when you return it as a courtesy to the next member using it. Returning a car with less than half a tank of gas results in a $10 flat fee.
Credits
Car Wash Credit
If the car you pick up is dirty and you take the time to get it cleaned, we'll happily credit your account up to $15 for the cost of the wash. Just send us your dated receipt along with your member I.D. and reservation number.
Gas Credit
If the gas card is missing or not working, please pay for gas out of pocket and we'll reimburse you for the entire cost. All we need is a dated receipt along with your member I.D. and reservation number.
