Members' Corner

Welcome to our Members' Corner, where you'll find lots of information about your CarShare Vermont membership, from helpful tips and reminders to information about our Fob Benefits program that rewards you for being a member.

Getting Started

Find out about our terrific Fob Benefits program so you can take advantage of the great discounts being offered by our partner businesses. That's right, a waive of your fob can get you lots of good stuff at many local shops and restaurants.

Re-read your member handbook. Whether you've forgotten how to reserve a car or don't know what to do if you're running late, you'll find answers to most of your questions in our handy handbook.

Tips & Reminders

Below you'll find quick answers to some common member questions.

How do I use the gas card?  Remember that gas is always included with your CarShare Vermont usage, and members are kindly asked to leave at least a half-tank of gas in the vehicle at the end of your reservation. Use the gas card found in the glove box to re-fuel as needed. When you swipe the card at the pump, you'll be prompted for two numbers: a "driver ID" and an odomoter reading. The driver ID is NOT your member ID for making reservations. The number the pump is asking you for is the last 4 digits of the VIN number of the particular vehicle you're driving. For your convenience, this number is printed on the gas card itself and on the other in-vehicle materials. The odometer reading is the vehicle's mileage.

What if I leave something in a car? We're glad you're making yourself at home in the cars. This sometimes means you leave behind your favorite mittens, your cell phone, a text book, your copy of Michael Buble's Crazy Love, lip balm, tube socks, prescription reading glasses, half a toasted bagel, or your SAT prep materials. (Yes, we did find three boxes of practice tests.)

Ultimately, CarShare Vermont is not responsible for any personal belongings left in or on top of the vehicles. However, we'll do our best to take care of your stuff. We do make biweekly visits to the cars and will remove anything left behind.

If we do find personal items in the cars, we will hold them in our "lost and found" bin at the office for up to sixty days. After that, we will donate it. Give us a call or send us an email to inquire about a lost item.

If you need to retrieve anything that you've recently left in one of our vehicles (i.e. the next day) , please make a thirty minute reservation first before going to get the item. This will ensure that the car will be there and it will also prevent an interruption to another member's trip.

Snow Parking Bans

For those of you who are new to Burlington (or new to driving in Burlington), this is important info for you! During heavy snow, the city of Burlington issues a parking ban which means that no cars are allowed to be parked on city streets or in city-owned parking lots between 10 p.m. and 7 a.m.  When a storm has been declared, the yellow lights on signs around town will be turned on before 3 p.m.

A couple of our cars are parked on-street and need to be moved to "winter pods" during snow parking bans. When the yellow lights are flashing, please be sure to park the car in its alternate winter pod. Special directions are provided with your reservation confirmation for the affected vehicles (currently Horatio and Nora).
